Meet Nick
Nick is a self-taught photographer and director from England, now based on an island in the Pacific Northwest. His work explores raw wilderness and remote landscapes, shaped by long periods of observation and a deep respect for place, scale, and time.
Originally trained as a wildlife scientist and biodiversity conservationist, Nick’s photographic practice is grounded in a lifelong engagement with the natural world. Over the past decade, he has lived and worked alongside communities at the front lines of environmental change, most notably in Alaska’s Bristol Bay region. His long-term work there, developed in close collaboration with Alaska Native communities, contributed to broader awareness and the permanent protection of one of the world’s last intact wild salmon ecosystems.
Alongside this documentary practice, Nick has spent many years leading large-scale global productions for international brands. While the scale of this work differs, the approach remains consistent: patience, immersion, and trust in the moment. Whether working alone in remote terrain or directing complex productions, his process favors presence over intervention, allowing images to emerge rather than be imposed.
Across all of his work, Nick is drawn to quiet, elemental moments—instances where nature’s energy, light, land, and water align briefly before passing. These fleeting encounters are distilled into carefully crafted images intended to endure, offering a considered record of the world around us.
